ABOUT THE DALLAS FAMILY COURTS

The 254th Family District Court, created by the Texas legislature in 1977, hears cases involving family law issues in Dallas County. It is one of seven Family District Courts in Dallas County, Texas.

The 254th District Court is responsible for all types of family law cases coming from Dallas County. These matters concern all aspects of legal matters concerning family relations: adoption, child support, divorce, domestic violence, enforcement, possession, property division, termination, and visitation.

Texans have the right to elect the Judges for District Courts.  If you vote in Dallas County, this race and Judge David Hanschen's name will appear on your ballot for both the Democratic Primary Election, March 2, 2010, and the General Election, November 2, 2010. Judges on the Family District Courts serve four year terms.
